How long have you been working at Banner Engineering?

19 years.

What are your responsibilities as VP – Product Management - Lighting at Banner Engineering?

  • Define product development and portfolio management priorities.
  • Execute product launches.
  • Interact with customers to understand needs, market trends, and opportunities.

Tell us a little bit more about your mission as a VP-PM-Lighting.

My highest-level goal is to grow Banner’s lighting business profitably. Smart portfolio management is part of this, but the most exciting part of the mission is to make as many new products/solutions as possible, and to redefine how lighting and indication products will improve our customers’ productivity and profitability.

What is your favorite thing about the work that you do?

I love working with a dynamic development team that can move very quickly from idea to concept. We’re constantly talking to customers and the sales team about what they need. Some prototypes go directly from an engineer’s desk to the customer for immediate evaluation. This fast feedback loop keeps us very active!

What do you think is the most important quality that helps you excel at your job?

My first answer is,  “Never no.” Even the craziest request deserves discussion. Every conversation is a learning opportunity, and we get better by challenging ourselves to find a solution.

What would you say is the most important quality of Banner Engineering?

One of our core values is “New Solutions – Every Day.” At Banner we love making things. Our desks are full of parts and samples. We have time for side projects that can turn into the next great development idea. It’s inspiring to see what we can develop and how it impacts our customers.

What sets Banner Engineering apart from other competitors?

Our diverse product portfolio is constantly evolving. We’re committed to creating and using new technologies to make products that will help our customers improve their operations.

What’s the future of Banner Engineering looking like? Goals and plans for the future?

Banner’s future is bright! Our goal in Lighting is to continually add to the best industrial indication and illumination offering. We’ll maximize our use of current technologies, and push ourselves to apply new ones.

How do you like to spend your free time?

Sports, homework, and other activities with my kids. Travel with my wife. DIY projects. Fishing and kayaking when the lakes aren’t frozen!
