2023 Award: Top Workplace on Long Island

Each year, Schneps Media announces the Long Island Top Workplaces, a ranking of local businesses determined by how employees feel about their workplaces and how it impacts their lives.

“Top Workplaces allows employers to get a read on what areas they should be celebrating and what areas they should be focusing on,” said Eric Rubino, CEO of Energage, a research company that conducts similar surveys nationwide. “We really need workplaces that inspire employees. You have to really acknowledge employees genuinely and consistently.”

This year, Peerless Electronics made this distinguished list, a testament to the strength of our ESOP (Employee Stock Ownership Plan), which gives every employee ownership in the company and its future. As Peerless employee Renee Anton explains, “ESOP helps to create an environment where employees benefit financially from considering the overall, long-term interests of the organization when making decisions. This helps facilitate the organization working as one cohesive team, rather than departments or individuals working in silos.”

Although founded as a privately held company in 1945, stakeholders decided to sell 100% of the company’s shares to Peerless Electronics Inc. ESOP in 2012 - a decision made to ensure the continued success of Peerless for the benefit of its employees, customers, and suppliers. Since then, the company has flourished from a unified sense of purpose nurtured by employee-owner commitment and participation to future growth. 

“As a company, Peerless is greater than the sum of its parts. Our employees all share a sense of ownership in everything we do.
