Peerless Electronics has successfully completed a Joint Surveillance Voluntary Assessment (i.e., JSVA audit). Our perfect score of 110 reinforces our commitment to cybersecurity, reliability, and supply chain trust. The assessment was conducted by the Defense Contract Management Agency’s Defense Industrial Base Cybersecurity Assessment Center (DIBCAC) in coordination with a CMMC-certified Third Party Assessment Organization (C3PAO).
Meeting all 110 NIST SP 800 171 security requirements strengthens Peerless’s position as an approved DoD supplier and a trusted partner in secure electronics supply chains.

In an industry governed by compliance and trust, we are proud of this achievement and of what it means to our partners and customers.

What Is a JSVA Audit?

A Joint Surveillance Voluntary Assessment is a cybersecurity and compliance evaluation developed by the DoD to help defense suppliers and organizations demonstrate alignment with federal security requirements. The program was introduced as a bridge to the Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification (CMMC), which requires contractors that handle sensitive government data to meet strict cybersecurity standards. The JSVA audit centers on verifying that an organization has fully implemented the 110 security controls outlined in NIST SP 800-171. These controls are designed to protect Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI) and ensure suppliers can securely support defense programs.

For electronics companies that support defense programs, a JSVA serves as an important supplier audit confirming that systems and processes meet strict cybersecurity and operational standards.

What a Perfect JSVA Score Means

In the electronics industry, accountability is paramount, especially when defense contracts are involved. A perfect JSVA score is a significant accomplishment, demonstrating an organization’s operational excellence. The rigorous JSVA audit evaluates cybersecurity practices, documentation, and internal processes, testing all 110 NIST SP 800‑171 security controls across the IT, compliance, and operations teams.

Achieving this level of performance reflects not only meticulous preparation and disciplined execution but also a deep understanding of the importance of CMMC compliance in protecting sensitive information and maintaining trust with defense partners. Organizations must demonstrate that controls are in place, actively maintained, and integrated into daily workflows. A perfect score signals exceptional operational standards, rigorous quality assurance, and the accountability expected of trusted suppliers in the defense and electronics supply chains.

Key Areas Evaluated During the JSVA Audit

A JSVA audit evaluates multiple aspects of a supplier’s operations to ensure strict compliance with cybersecurity and operational standards for handling, storing, and transferring CUI.

Cybersecurity Controls Implementation

Overall, auditors verify that all 110 security controls outlined in NIST SP 800-171 are implemented and functioning as intended. This includes access controls, system integrity, audit logging, incident response, and encryption practices to ensure the protection of CUI.

Documentation and Governance Evidence

Assessment teams also review key documentation, including system security plans, policies, and standard operating procedures, to determine that each control is actively maintained and supported by formal oversight structures.

Operational Effectiveness of Controls

Auditing this area confirms that cybersecurity measures are both documented and actively applied in day-to-day operations. This can involve system configuration reviews, log analysis, and staff interviews to demonstrate consistent execution of controls.

Network Architecture and Technical Configurations

This area of the audit examines network segmentation, endpoint security, authentication protocols, and other technical configurations to ensure proper risk mitigation across IT systems.

Risk and Incident Management Practices

The JSVA evaluates how companies identify, track, and mitigate cybersecurity risks, as well as their procedures for responding to potential incidents or vulnerabilities.

Asset and System Inventory

This provides assurance that the organization maintains an accurate inventory of assets and systems within the scope of CUI environments, which is essential for effectively enforcing security controls.

Policies, Procedures, and Control Testing

The audit reviews written policies and tests procedures to ensure personnel are trained, controls are followed, and outcomes are documented and verified.

Computer and Information Visibility

To protect Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI) from visual theft or accidental disclosure, CMMC requires technical and physical safeguards for workstations.

Visitor Compliance

Organizations must maintain a record of all visitors. Each requires identification and must be escorted at all times by an authorized employee during the visit.
